Corregidor Island Series - Battery Way

November 3b, 2008

As you can see, This place is another one of the many Batteries that can be found in the Island. In the photo above, you can see the communication room. This room is very much important because the soldiers here direct the soldiers on the canons the length and the angular displacement needed for the canons to be shot. Spotters are also located around the island and communicate here via telephone lines.

You can see in the photo above is one of the canons inside the battery way. As you can see, Battery Way is enclosed by a three sided thick wall (The communication room sevres as the fourth of the square). That's why it is very hard for these soldiers to launch their shots due to the enclosure of the Battery.

I hope you enjoyed my week-long Corregidor Island Series. We enjoyed the trip so much and I just hope that every viewer of my Series have felt the fun, awe and inspiration of scenes, structures and stories that were left by the war. We can truly learn so much from these things. Thank you so much for viewing the series and I hope you'll come back for more exciting things around Cavite.

  2. It's these moss-covered walls that remind me of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Especially when shot from an angle where you only see trees and huge leaves through the arches. :)

    Wonderful series, Steven!

  8. Thank you all so so so much! Of all your comments, they really cheered me up. I forgot to tell veryone school started since wednesday and I was busier than ever that everytime I went home, I jump to bed to sleep the n wake up going to school again. I never felt this tired anytime in my life. Uhm, Even if I don't feel unwell, is this an indication that I need to drink vitamins to boost up my energy?

Thank you all so much and I am sure you all guys understand a student like me. By the way, Our Two part thesis is about to start this sem so again, I am asking for your prayers! God Bless you all!

  9. Hi! Thank you for the pictures especially the one from Hijas de Marias (I'm trying to find out more about it on Google, but I couldn't find anything except your site).

My dad's family is currently in Tanza, and I had the pleasure of visiting last year after 13 years of going to my mother's families in the Visayas. Next year I'm hoping to go on a volunteer trip to Bulacan, and visiting Tanza again - this will be in May. Can you tell me more info about Hijas de Marias?

    Thank you for the info/pictures!
    - I'm born/raised in Canada by the way, but I'm really interested in both sides of my history :)
