A Farewell to Summer

Bouganvilleas

In the Philippines, we have three seasons - hot, hotter, and hottest. We are about to bid goodbye to the hottest season as we start to welcome more and more rains. Kidding Aside, the two seasons are actually wet and dry. August usually opens the typhoon and monsoon seasons where a lot of typhoons start to trace its path coming from the Pacific.

This beautiful Bouganvillea are the last reminders of the long sunny afternoons as the torrential rains that visited us last weekend just melted most of them. Stay dry Cavite, we still have a pandemic (record high) to fight!

  5. Beautiful flowers. I used to plant one in front of my house. Even though it doesn't bloom much, I never tire pruning the plant and cleaning the area. Sadly, I found the entire plant dug out by my neighbour upon my return from my weekend at mom's. Reason given was he was afraid snakes might make a nest there. No replacement after that. Very sore, yes. Decided not to pick an argument.

    1. Oh dear Lili! That is would be so hard for me too! But I really admire your patience to not pick a fight even if you have done your best to prune it and clean it as a regimen. It was just a weekend then boom! gone! ughhh! I wish you'll have newer plants in the future :)

  7. Good to see you back in blogland Stevenson. Your buganvilias as gorgeous. I hope you don't get one of those typhoons. And like your area, we have lots of cases here too. I hope people start wearing masks and getting this under control soon. Hugs-Erika

  8. Beautiful flowers, dear Stevenson and... can´t get hot enough for me :-)
I´m Australian-proofed and even loved Darwin´s wet season.
We slept in the car, (nearly) always and even as we wondered if any of the two of us´d bought fish and it turned out the potatoes´d gone bad due to the humidity, I loved the weather (Ingo not so much, he had to gag a lot getting the rotten things out of the car ;-)...)
    If we´re lucky 27C today!

  9. My daughter and son in law will be leaving the Philippines in about 2 months to go and work in Germany and they say they will really miss the year round sunny and warm weather.
I love bougainvilleas and had 2 right next to the front of our house, but they never really flowered much and my husband was worried about their roots lifting some bricks so he cut them down. I bought a "baby" one in a pot but again it hardly ever flowers!

    1. Oh! That is very nice, it will be a brand new experience for them to be in Germany, how I really wish I can also find work abroad so I can experience new culture. I wish your baby one would grow and flower with such vibrant colors dear Sami!

  12. Hello my friend Stevenson.
    That's lovely bougenville flowers.
I also love the clustered flowers and the many color options.

There is a belief that grows in the Javanese community where I live, the Bougenville plant is taboo to be planted in homes where there are unmarried girls because it is believed that the beauty of this flower can beat the prestige of the beauty of girls.
Whether it's true or not, I don't know for sure.

  13. Por aquí aún nos quedan muchos días de calor. Se agradece cuando bajan algunos grados, ya que el verano en mi ciudad es bastante penoso.
