Charito's, Tagaytay City

Remember that beautiful entrance to an empty restaurant that I shared at the beginning of this month? This is how it looks like on the second floor. See that view of the Taal caldera? What you can see through the doors and windows are the magnificent Taal Lake and the small but terrible Taal Volcano which erupted just this January.

They serve delicious dishes from Steaks to roast beef, pastas and pies, and even all day breakfast which I especially love! I hope you get a glimpse of why this place is probably my favorite restaurant in the province.

Today is May 27th and my father Ernesto is celebrating his 68th birthday. I wish him more years to come with best of health and happiness and hopefully we can pursue our postponed Indo-China trip in the next years.

Empty Restaurants

Charito's, Tagaytay City

It's sad to see empty restaurants during these times, especially those that you frequent and love being at like the one above which I love so much - food, ambiance, and the caldera view. Though you can see this facade is empty, the light is on because I took this pre-lockdown. It's empty not because of the enhanced community quarantine, but because we were there before it opened because we left home early and the drive to Tagaytay City usually takes an hour so yup, early birds we were.

Hot Chocolate, Anyone?

Tsokolateria's Hot Chocolate, Tagaytay City

Another specialty from one of my favorite restaurants in the province, tsokolateria, is their hot chocolate. What sets their hot chocolate from the usual is that these babies are made from tablea which are strong cacao chips that are made from big tablets (Tablea is a Spanish word for Tablet) but nowadays are made in balls or disks form. These "tablets" are then placed in boiling water or milk and a special wooden whisk called the "batirol", also came from the Spanish word batidor, is used to mix it and make it frothy and creamy.

Their hot chocolates are available in regular, dark, or like this one above which is their tsoko-nut variant, which is mixed with delicious Filipino favorite "Choc-Nut" which are small chocolate bars made of chocolate and ground peanuts (see bar on the bottom right). They are so good, take my word for it!

Calamansi Pancake Souffle

Calamansi is the native version of the Lime but it has this distinct sweet quality that blends in its natural tangy sourness. These fruits are usually small and green but grows on shrubs with strong and thick trunks. Usually used as a condiment to stir fried and noodle dishes, Tsokolateria used it as a flavor base for one of their pancake souffle recipes. The sweet and fluffy texture of their pancake souffle was given a kick of tangy goodness that makes you close your eyes and take you to a land of dreams for a couple of seconds.

Spam Musubi

Some people love Japanese food so much, and some people are self-confessed SPAM Monsters. But what if you both a Japanese food lover and a SPAM monster? This restaurant in Tagaytay City has got you covered! A sliced SPAM sandwiched over and under by steamed white rice, then wrapped by seafood nori wrapper is a dream! But that doesn't end there, cover it all up by Japanese breadcrumbs then deep fried to perfection makes it extra special. Served with Teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise, this is the new definition of comfort food.  

And may I please talk about the plating, it's just super cute and served with a cool can of one of our best friends in the kitchen! The question is why would you need a fork in there, right? I won't mind keeping my fingers oily as long as I can munch on that as soon as possible! You can enjoy this delicious plate with a stunning view of the Taal caldera at The Original Hawaiian BBQ in Tagaytay City.

A Man and a Foggy Night

Foggy Nights at Tagaytay City truly amazes me each and everytime. As my Family went dining I just can't stop shooting and shooting until I got this shot. I really Love this shot because I captured the silhouette of the man looking above the signs and the headlight and all other elements that gave this dark photo so much light.

This will be one of my most favorite shots ever on Cavite Daily Photo. For me at least :)

Combacheros

It was my Daddy's Birthday when we had lunch at the coolness of Tagaytay City. While everyone was having a good meal, a Three-Man string Band serenades along the tables and they are even open to Song Requests and we call them Combacheros. They Played the songs 'High' and 'La Bamba' and we really had a great Lunch Experience.

Photo was taken yesterday on my Birthday Celebration at Tagaytay City, One of my Favorite Places in the world! We went for Dinner at Tootsie's Tagaytay where you can see their Specialty, Lengua. Lengua is a Classic Filipino Dish, of course from Spanish Traces which is made of Tenderized, and I do mean TENDER, Ox's Tongue. It is my favorite dish so what else to order than the Classic Lengua. What made their Lengua different from the other is the addition of Green and Black Olives and I can really taste the Garlic without its much strength! To top it all off, It was delish. Go and Try Tootsie's Tagaytay and Before you take a glance at their Menu, tell the kind waiter's the magic word, LENGUA!

Now We go to the post's Title. It was my 20th Birthday yesterday! It was really fun! I got to Dine out with Mom, Dad and Cousin Judy and it was very great! We are natural gourmands and we always love trying all kinds of foods no matter the price or the looks, for us, Food is not just a means of survival nor a lifestyle, it's Art! We never Eat, We Dine...

A cozy place ... to DINE

Yup Everyone, To Dine! This photo was shot just a few hours ago at Bag of Beans in Tagaytay City. It's a classy restaurant that has different kinds of seats! Some are on the cabana like huts where a small family could fit and they also have these cozy seats where you feel like you are dining on the comforts of your living room! But the best part of it, The food was spectacular!
Next time you passed by Tagaytay, I'm recommending everyone to try Bag of Beans! Your try will make you plan for your next visits!

Welcome to Tagaytay City

Majestic Clouds caped us while we were on the Highway from Batangas Province entering Cavite, Tagaytay City. It was a very cool day and as I have mentioned before, Tagaytay City is truly the Coldest point in Cavite with average Temperature of around 20 - 24 degrees Celsius all year round. Yes, that is considered cold for a Tropical Country like the Philippines. I am very sorry for the quality since I was inside my friend's car when I got to take this shot. I would like to thank everyone for joining me this whole month of February.

I am very proud to say that this moth has been Cavite Daily Photo's month with the most posts since October 2008. Despite the busy schedule getting ready for Graduation this March, I still had all the time and most importantly, the drive to deliver you all fresh photos of Cavite with all your inspiration and Kind Comments! Those comments are what keeps me and my Blog running!

 Thank you all so much and may he have a Fantastic March ahead! 26 Days left till my College Graduation! I'm so excited! You guys made my College life a lot easier because every stress I've had is erased by all you kind words and never ending support! I'll leave you all with the plea to pray for Chile and all the Surrounding Pacific Islands, including The Philippines for we have a Tsunami Alert. God Bless the World!

Hazy Sky Watching

This was shot on our Senior Year Retreat at Charles Huang Convention Center just beside Tagaytay City last August 2009. You can see my dear friend Macon savoring the beautiful hazy horizon facing Batangas Province during the morning we arrived. The Morning Fog enveloped us and the whole surrounding with its cool misty feel which made everyone happy.

Our retreat was truly a fun experience! The whole Block bonded together during those two days and it was truly a memorable experience we will treasure forever, Just as the BCS42 Motto, "We are all made of Stars".

I missed SKYWATCH FRIDAY so much!

It was a very Sunny yet windy morning at Tagaytay City, Cavite on the Second of January this year! So as to celebrate the beginning of the New Year, me and my friends decided to fly kites and it was really really fun! A lot of people have been flying kites too from little kids, to Grandfathers as well! It was very memorable for us since we don't fly kites so often!

The photo above shows my cousin Judy flying our Kite way way up in the sky! That moment, we reached the final end of our line and just held it up until it went down. Just like in life, If ever we reached our peak, there will always come a time that we will go down. Though, it is always up to us to gather up and try flying again! Who knows, this time, the peak that we thought is actually just a stepping stone to a higher altitude of our dreams!

I would also like to take this opportunity to everybody that sent their Congratulation Greetings over my last posts! It really really is uplifting and truly touching to read all you greetings, especially to you all my Blogger Friends!

This was shot beside the highway on Tagaytay, I was again uplifted by the Colors of that day's Twilight. It was cold that time while we were waiting for our food.

I missed Skywatch Friday so much that I decided to join again. I just hope you guys would like it. And my exams went off earlier as I took the last one, Physics. It was actually great because our Prof gave us a good and tolerable exmaination. Thanks to him.

Little Souls

This is the Little Souls Convent which can be found in Tagaytay City found still in Cavite's Highlands. It is very much solemn here and what me and my mom like about it is that not like other convents and churches in Tagaytay, this remained peaceful and not overrated which adds to the place's silence wherein you can truly be with God even in a few moments of praying here.

Tomorrow is the last day of our Midterm exams and of course, they saved the worst for last, Physics. So please pray for all of the students who will take their exams including me as well. God Bless us all and may we have a happy weekend!

I have waited so long to post this photo. Many of my friends at school thinks that this one is a good shot. We were dining at Tagaytay City when an old man passed by as I pressed my shutter. This was of course an accidental shot and I find it nice too.

Hello, I'm sorry to those that I haven't replied to on my very last post last Skywatch Friday because even if it was the start of vacation, I never stayed at home everyday from that day on. I was so busy and I am really sorry I put this blog down but hey, I'm back!

We have been to Enchanted Kingdom with my College friends earlier and it was a blast. After that, we check some of our grades at school for this past semester and I was so delighted. I can't even believe on what I got on Physics as I was emphasizing how hard the course was. But I did get a high grade! A lot higher than expected so thank you all so much for your prayers and wishes, it did a lot to me! Congratulations to the students who passed their subjects especially to those who got high grades!

Skywatch

I know it's a bit blurry but I really hope you find it nice. This one is shot in Tagaytay last Sunday. Tagaytay City is located on the southern edge of Cavite approximately 2,100 ft above sea level. that explains it's cold, temperate weather all year round.

Poor Little Froggy

As I did my walk with my closest cousins around The Tagaytay Tropical Greens in Mendez, Cavite wherein my nephew's 1st birthday is being held (Happy Birthday Iñigo!), we passed by so many dead frogs! But then, this one has a very strange death. it wasn't squished. One of my cousins said that the death might be caused by heart attack. Whatever the reason is, I hope he died peacefully. The party was really fun not just because of the great food and great venue, but most of all, my reunion with my JSVPC Cousins that I haven't seen for a very long time! So to the Parents of Iñigo, Great party!

Foggy Perspective

Well After we went to church at Trece, Cavite, We went to Tagaytay for Dinner! Well Cavite is really full of variety not just in cuisine, culture, people but in climate also! Tagaytay has a yearly average of 22 degrees Celsius at night (That's way cold here in the Philippines)

I ate Spaghetti Bolognese and Grilled Chicken with mushroom and Swiss Cheese! It was muy sabroso! Before we went to the restaurant, it serves Mediterranean Food and the owner was really kind and even went to our table for welcoming us, I was amazed as I went down the car with the very colorful foggy sky! I just don't know but it really captivated my senses!

By the way, I also want to thank all the City Daily Photo Bloggers for welcoming me to your world! I really am so delighted and touched by your overwhelming kindness!
