Jungle Flashbacks

Nipa Jungles, Indang

This photo is not very old, in fact, I took it just 10 years ago with my already digital camera. But I don't know why it just finished this way, and when I saw this on my old files, I thought I'd share it to you all. The town of Indang is located in the upland part of Cavite, and up until now, it has maintained quite a big portion of it's natural rainforest and jungle areas just like this one. Most of them are privately owned and it's very nice that they choose to maintain it's jungle feel even if they build their houses within them.

Facade of Saint Gregory Parish

Indang Church

I have shared you the massive and old-world style of the parish's interior in this post, Saint Gregory the Great. Surprisingly, all the huge space and massive perspectives inside is housed in something that looks a little smaller when you look at it from the outside. The facade features a geometric design in ash colored stones with white painted accents.

Completed in the year 1710 during the Spanish colonial era, one thing I like about this church, which is common in the upland towns of Cavite, is the flower box path that leads you to the church entrance from the gate of the church lot. These boxes have different leafy ornamental plants and lamp posts that are decorated every town fiesta or Christmas season.

Saint Gregory the Great

Saint Gregory the Great Parish, Indang

Founded in 1625, the Saint Gregory the Great Parish Church or Indang Church is one of the oldest churches in the province. It is named after it's patron saint Saint Gregory the Great which was a Pope of the roman catholic church during the last 6th century to the early 7th century. In the town of Indang, he is famously known by the locals at San Gregorio Magno.

Originally a chapel by the Jesuits, Indang Church has played a key role to the Philippine revolution when it has been burned down by the early Caviteños during the late 1800's. It was then rebuilt after the revolution to continue to serve as the Catholic Church in the upland town of Indang.

There was once an incident wherein the local parish priest has found a rolled-up painting together with some trash at the back of the church. He unrolled it and it unveiled a beautiful painting of the seven archangels which is now on display at the right side of the church. This grew a patronage to the seven archangels not just in the town of Indang but also among the Catholics of Cavite.

Survivor Indang

In the Middle of the Jungles of Indang, Cavite, I, together with my 15 Classmates had experienced the Game of Survivor, SURVIVOR INDANG. I hosted the Two day event that served as our Post-College Trip just before our Graduation this coming 26th of March. We were on the woods from the 10th till the 11th of this Month and it was truly a fun experience! It was way way out of your Typical College Outing/Trip because it was full of Challenges and Experiences that can never be easily organized. I was honored to be the host of my friends and it was truly tiring yet full of fun!

The Alamid (Wild Cat endemic at Indang known for its Alamid Coffee) Tribe and the Sawa (Boa Constrictor) Tribe battled it all out and the Sole Survivor, Jayson Sabale, Outwitted, Outplayed, and Outlasted all other 14 Castaways and cruised his way to the Top. Together with the Final Four, Aljon Guttierez, Ralph Sanchez and Diane Rosario, they led our classmates to every Challenge and had a hand on voting out all other Castaways.

It was very unforgettable and we shall cherish this for the rest of our lives! As we part our separate ways two weeks from now, We already planned for our Third Season, SURVIVOR ZAMBALES...
