Queuing for the Bank - Guest Post Sunday

It took us more than an hour to queue up under the heat of the afternoon sun, waiting for our turn to enter the Bank's doors. When it was my time, I had to log on a sheet which includes my name, contact number, and my temperature reading as the guard screened me right as I entered. I had to wait another hour inside because there were only two tellers attending to all the customer. But it's nice to see that everyone has been complying with these extra steps that may get a bit tedious and adds extra minutes two more than two hours of waiting for a simple transaction. But just to think that it does a big help when it comes to contact tracing just in case anything happens to anybody who visited on that day on that time, we really just have to comply.

Brief But Strong

Downpour, Imus

It went really dark just an hour past noon, then it started pouring. The rain started with small sprinkles until it drop so strong that it created some mini flood that yes, the kids did enjoy. Taken this afternoon by my college pal and one of my blog's kind correspondents in this Quarantine times, Zarah, she also added that after a few minutes, patrolers went inside their subdivision and the kids went all running back home! With almost every place cemented with concrete, a brief but strong downpour can really flood certain areas in the province, something that rarely happens before when the earth's pores can still breathe without these solid 'foundations'.

Relaxed Lockdown

From the Enhanced Community Quarantine, the Philippines are now under a more relaxed GCQ or General Community Quarantine. Although it's not because it is already safe for everybody, but because the government gives priority to businesses and the economy. the numbers are still at its height especially in the largest island of Luzon where the capital Manila and Cavite are in.

Generally, this level states that people can now go outside of their houses and go places as long as you have your passes, no matter the reason. Different cities in Cavite have their own guidelines and protocols on who and how are people being controlled in this greatly relaxed version of the lockdown. If before, only one person per household is allowed, now, as long as you have a company ID, you can now go outside the house and show your ID only if you are asked to. But if not, you can just go outside and do whatever, worse, without social distancing being checked anymore.

People kept saying how the second wave is about to be at hand soon here in the Philippines, but what they fail to realize is that we are still in the first wave, it was never safer, we are still at its peak of the first. Please pray for Cavite, and for the Philippines.

Ayuda

Ayuda (Help) from the Governor, Imus

A dear friend of mine from college, Zarah, sent me this photo of something they received earlier, it is an Ayuda from the office of the provincial governor. 

Ayuda is a Filipino term that means 'help' which came from the Spanish word of the same meaning. Living on a developing country, not everyone can make it on their own during a lockdown, especially those families who are below the poverty line and cannot feed themselves without the small-time work that they normally have as a living. That is why the government helps families in providing rations of staple food such as rice and sardines and noodles, like on that photo.

During the past couple of days, social media has been bombarded by posts and messages regarding a "Total Lockdown" that is to happen very soon. On those memos, which have no cited reference or origin, it will be announced by the President by Monday or Tuesday. Monday has passed here in the Philippines but a real or official communication about it has not yet been heard. Now let's see this Tuesday what happens next.

Shoppers responded to such news by flocking supermarkets as ever but as you can see on this counter aisle, citizens wait patiently as the grocery provided chairs for them to sit on while waiting for their turn. You can see on this store that there are still plenty of stocks of essentials as compared to some other groceries wherein displays now show empty and hollow racks.

Stay Safe, it's hard to see the end to this especially here in the Philippines where there is no sign of concrete mitigation plans. Let's not stop praying and going our part to become the solution to this situation.

Skywatch Friday: Open Canal

A Sunny sky at the Open Canal Road greets us all a warm Good Morning!

The Open Canal road stretches from Pasong Camachile in General Trias, passing through Imus and ends in Molino in Bacoor. Since this road was opened to vehicles, it has been a big cut to the travel time for Cavitenos in the Heart of the Province, going to the Dasmariñas City Area, Imus, Bacoor and Muntinlupa City in Manila.

In times of Long Heated summers, the Canal at the left part of the Photo is dry and grasses grow in it. But in rainy days, the Canals fill up and a slow current brings the Water to the Agricultural Areas of Cavite such as Imus, General Trias and Tanza.

Inside the Imus Cathedral

It was a very sunny day when we went to the Imus Cathedral at Imus, Cavite. When you get inside the Cathedral, the first thing you will notice is the Dark-Ages France style designs on the upper parts of the walls and the trusses up until the altar. Upon the walls are embossed Latin words which are important to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

The whole of Cavite is under the Diocese of Imus. The Diocese was canonically erected on April 1962. The Imus Cathedral or the Cathedral Parish of Our Lady of the Pillar serves as the seat of the diocese.

In 2011, the Diocese of Imus will celebrate their Golden Jubilee as diocese since their establishment in 1961.

Road to University

Photo Shot months ago

This photo is the road that we pass going to my University, Aguinaldo Highway. By using this road, passing Imus, Cavite, we arrive at school from our house in just 35 minutes. While the other road that I usually pass through because that is the route of jeepneys, is an hour and a half from our house and I ride to Jeepneys. The whole fare is worth 30 pesos. That is like 0.75US$ and another 75 cents going home.

School is on in another weeks time so wish me all the blessing for the coming Semester so that I can ace that Dean's Lister again that I haven't got last Semester because of that Volleyball! Can you believe it, I raised my Calculus and Java Programming inside the 85% or 2.75(4.00 = 100, 1.00 = 60) while that Volleyball, because of my carelessness scored just 2.00. Such a regret but i still have hope this semester! God Bless us all and the students that are preparing for the coming school year! Hopefully, in two years, I can march up the PICC and recieve my Bachelor's Degree Diploma major in Computer Science! So nice to dream of that moment!
