Ayuda (Help) from the Governor, Imus
A dear friend of mine from college, Zarah, sent me this photo of something they received earlier, it is an Ayuda from the office of the provincial governor.
Ayuda is a Filipino term that means 'help' which came from the Spanish word of the same meaning. Living on a developing country, not everyone can make it on their own during a lockdown, especially those families who are below the poverty line and cannot feed themselves without the small-time work that they normally have as a living. That is why the government helps families in providing rations of staple food such as rice and sardines and noodles, like on that photo.
...it's always tough to be poor and now it's tougher!
ReplyDeleteYou said it right Tom, I can only pray for those families who have nothing.
DeleteThat is nice that the local governments are helping out the most needy with rations of staple foods.
ReplyDeleteYes Sami. The president entrusted the local government units to give out help using their budgets, and also the amelioration plan using the National budget has been assigned to the social welfare department.
DeleteThank you for the vocabulary of the word Ayuda in Filipino ..., I came to understand the meaning.
ReplyDeleteThe situation of the government providing food aid to underprivileged communities in the Philippines is also carried out by the Indonesian government. Many Indonesians actually live below the poverty line.
We are the same my friend. Indonesia and the Philippines has a lot of shared things not just ancestors and culture but also our ways of living nowadays. Both of our island groups have people living under the poverty line and its very sad.
DeleteHow good of this government ... In the Netherlands they also collect money for emergency packages for Malavi.
ReplyDeleteBut there are also people from Philippines who will take care of the immediate family.
That is very true Ella, if the government will not shell out those tax moneys, and also without the help of the private sectors, the country will crumble not only because of the virus but of hunger.
DeleteI am thankful to countries like your who help and share to less fortunate countries.
Bitter-sweet, Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteWe live in one world, but we are worlds apart.
So many people come here, have never ever worked here, get a roof over their heads, cleaning for free, food, money even, no need to learn the German language, only if they want to.
So many even have no respect - not all, certainly, don´t get me wrong! - but too many.
And your friend is so happy about this little bit of help he spreads it around!
Online we are near, but so far apart, not in kilometres but in so much else.
You gave me something to think about again, dear friend.
Iris thank you so much for your beautiful words of realization. That is right Iris. We are a proud nation of 110 million people but a big percentage of our people live under the poverty lines. I do understand what you said about some ungrateful people because we also have our fair share of those here, they are not foreigners though, they are also Filipinos who can only do is complain no matter what help they get.
DeleteBut still we all have things to be thankful and grateful for, one of which is that we are still here and alive. Me, I am very thankful for internet connection because it led me to great friends like you :)
That explains the rice on the tops of the cans. It's been hard here on some people also, and I am grateful for food on the table. Some people are out of work and there a long lines for food to help. It must be very hard and it is sad to see.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on those feelings of sadness Erika. At times I can only go on our roadside window and look at the people and pray for them because most of them are really hungry (except some of them are just loiterring outside feeling bored even if they should be on their houses ughh)
DeleteThat's a really nice thing for the government to do SQ but really they should do more to help these poor people all of the time 💙
ReplyDeleteAmen to that Grace! Since these rations are provided by the local government, not all are given the same. There are some cities who are active and helpful, some are just quiet and sleeping and seems to dream away from the situation. But yes, very thankful to those that do help.
DeleteNice to hear that some help is being given. We all need it from time to time.
ReplyDeleteVery much agree with that Michelle! Stay safe!
DeleteThank you for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteSeems government, NGO's and some personal individues do help out to those in need. Is lockdown still on in Philippines. Ours is on until May 14. Hopping this all will end for us all soon. Stay safe.
It was my pleasure Lili and I love the post you shared! I have followed your blog and will definitely come back and visit. We are the same, our is still running until May 14th with no plans yet being announced if it will still be continued of lifted. Please stay safe Lili!
