Brief But Strong

It went really dark just an hour past noon, then it started pouring. The rain started with small sprinkles until it drop so strong that it created some mini flood that yes, the kids did enjoy. Taken this afternoon by my college pal and one of my blog's kind correspondents in this Quarantine times, Zarah, she also added that after a few minutes, patrolers went inside their subdivision and the kids went all running back home! With almost every place cemented with concrete, a brief but strong downpour can really flood certain areas in the province, something that rarely happens before when the earth's pores can still breathe without these solid 'foundations'.

Rain Clouds

Rain Clouds over General Trias

This week, there have been a few instances that the rain visited the province. This photo was taken Tuesday when we all though the rain will kiss our grounds in General Trias but decided to just pass by neighboring cities. Even if the rain visits us occasionally, the temperature index are still maintained at a range of 40C-50C everyday.

Spring is in bloom in some parts of the north like the US and Europe and down under, they enjoy colorful autumn season. How has the weather been on your side of the planet?

Stormbands

I took this photo at my terrace garden and sadly, the Cattleya blooms I have been waiting for has been affected. two of the buds were destroyed by the wind even before my Dad rescued it from it's hanging place. It's now on my room with what's left of the flowers and I am sad.

Typhoon "Ambo" started this year's list of Typhoon (typhoon names are alphabetical every year) and it's very weird because of two things. One, is this summer has nothing but unforgiving with temperatures from 42C-50C in the past three weeks and it's weird that the primer storm passes by during May. And more unusual to it is that it is not just a simple storm, it's a strong typhoon with gustiness of up to 255 km/h.

This is a very tough time, especially for those that have been affected by the Taal Volcano eruption last January 2020 who still have no homes and are in evacuation centers. They have no home, and then this COVID Pandemic came, and guess what, a strong typhoon! 2020 is just unbelievable if you ask me. May I ask you for your prayers because it has been destroying the central islands at the moment and it's on the way here to the Manila area.

Sleeping World under a Blanket of Clouds

This beautiful photograph was taken by my niece, Abrielle, and was sent to me via Telegram App. I really like the Telegram App because it maintains the resolution and quality of the photos that you send over mobile, unlike on Facebook or in Messenger.

Abrielle also shared to me a story that her grade school teacher once told them. That when the clouds in the sky turn to be something like a blanket of little cotton bolls just like that above, it would signify a coming Earthquake. I have never heard of that superstition yet, maybe it's an original from her teacher's town.

Today in the Philippines, and also in India as per my teammates from work, we celebrate Labor Day which remembers and commemorates the heroism or workers in all aspects of the society. May we offer a short prayer and thoughts to our workers, especially to those on the front-lines in this very time.

Darkness for Light

We can only appreciate the beauty of light and the colors that are visible through it to the highest extent only if we have experienced darkness as well. 

Just as what we are experiencing right now, the lonely, the hungry, the sick - we can only help each other to survive this situation with hope. All of us are in one or two or all of these negative phases, but once we get through this, together, we'll appreciate the simple things a lot more, in a light we have never seen before this nightmare visited our lifetime. May this pandemic be a lesson of love, of unity, of solidarity, of strength, and of community. Darkness shall pass, light will prevail.

Thank you so much again to my professor Miss Sheryl, who shared this photo from my Alma Mater for all of us to see and enjoy. She took this just before the enhanced community quarantine was imposed mid-March. Stay Safe everyone and never let that spark fade out.

Blessing from Above

Fresh raindrops on my aloe plant at our balcony on a dark and gloomy, but wished for, afternoon sky. Today I dusted off my old Nikon D3100 and used it for the first time in years! Took this above shot with it and I'm happy

After long days of too much heat since Summer has began here in the Philippines 3 weeks ago, we were blessed by the presence of a swift but strong afternoon rain. It lasted for about 20 minutes but are all so thankful. It started on the upland towns and saw it through Facebook updates of my workmates from there and then I really did pray that it will pass our city and it did! Not just to cool down the excruciating heat (yes the word is not too much because I'm talking about 34-38 C on April, imagine our May and June?). 

Just like the rain that passed by our house, I pray and wish for everyone to have better weather that will enable them to have good and comfortable days at home in this lockdown. My the rain around the world not just cools up the weather but also wash away the traces of virus and the worries and anxiety of people, I included.

Good Friday

Crucifixion Scene, General Trias

Jesus died on the cross for all of us, to wash away our since and for us to obtain the promise of eternal life. In times like these when we remember his passion, death, and resurrection, we also remember how hope sparks from within us and can never be put off by fear. As long as we have hope in our hearts, we can always fight our way and be patient until the perfect time comes.

This Good Friday, I invite everyone to meditate and reflect on what is happening and all the lessons it is providing us and also to pray for other people suffering and sacrificing themselves for the sake of others. Storms like these are hard to trudge through but we can always make it through as long as we fight with fire in our hearts. There is promise, we just have to believe and ignite that hope.

Indigo

Indigo on the Sky, General Trias

Since the lock-down here in the Philippines, a lot of regular soap operas and TV programs have also been suspended because they are not able to shoot episodes due to the actors and actresses also observing the community quarantine. To keep people entertained, they aired high-rating old tv shows and one of them is Channel 2's Hiraya Manawari, a children's show that focuses on values and character building. I grew up during grade school watching this TV show and the first episode they re-aired was a personal favorite which is about a legend of the color indigo.

Long ago, God assigned seven angels representing the seven colors of the rainbow to paint the world that he just created. All of them were very excited. one by one, riding clouds towards the earth started coloring their way to it. Asul (blue) painted all the sky and the sea, while Luntian (green) took out most of the lands on the earth. But one was left on the heavens, Indigo, which can't leave their head angel, Serafin, without fixing the cloud machine. When she finally did, it was all too late because all the earth has already been colored by the six other angels. The day was about to end when God saw Indigo crying and found out that she was late because she helped Serafin despite being left out. So he consoled Indigo through words and commended her helpfulness and responsibility then whispered something to Indigo's ear. With a smile lit up on her face, she blew all her colors into the sunset which made it a lot more beautiful than it was before she came. And God said, "This will be a reminder of Indigo's kindness and love and will be shown everyday before the it ends".

I find the story very touching and also very moving since Indigo is not a very familiar or visible color to many, despite being one of the major hues of the rainbow. Since then, whenever I see Indigo through the sunset sky, it makes me remember God's promise of hope and of love, that no matter how long or hard the day is, there will always be a chance for a better tomorrow.

Always a New Hope

A rooftop view of the "Malabon" Junction, General Trias

Day 10 of the Luzon-wide Lockdown (Largest island of the Philippine Archipelago which houses the province of Cavite and Metro Manila) and I still can't get used to the quiet streets here in Malabon Junction. Being at the center of the city of General Trias, Malabon junction is usually packed with commuters and jeepneys as early as 5 in the morning, but this is it now at 6:30.

The empty streets may seem very sad but it signifies hope that a lot of people will continually and hopefully comply totally to the imposed "enhanced community quarantine". This has meant a lot of sacrifices from different sectors and individuals, but thinking how hard our front-liners work to save lives and do their best to mitigate the spread of the virus, I just hope the thought of it will touch more and more Caviteños before they think of going outside.

As much as we can, let us make use of the passes that were given to us by going outside smartly. As much as we can, let us gather our essentials and necessities in just one big outing and refrain from going outside again to maintain limited contact and movement. If you happen to be the designated person to go outside, once you return, refrain from touching any surfaces at the house and go straight to the bathroom to change your clothes and as much as possible, take a full bath.

With the power of President Duterte much more heightened and fortified, let us all pray to the Lord that He guides our executive and all of his officials in making strong and prompt decisions for the betterment of the country. Our front-liners are doing their part, even our officials, let us also be good Caviteños and be a huge part of the solution. Can we count on you? 

Let us not lose hope, just as how the sun continues to rise every morning.

Who do we turn to?

Immaculate Conception Parish, Naic

The town of Naic is located in the upland regions of Cavite. It's parish church was built during the late Spanish colonial era which stand beside the historic Casa Hacienda de Naic that was built by the Spanish friars to administer the hacienda which is now the town of Naic and stands as an elementary school until these modern years.

In difficult times like these, especially when we are talking about the world as a whole and all its residents and citizens, who do we turn to? Every single day since this lock down, I would always ask myself why did all this happen and when will this end? Not just when but also, how? Times like these gives us the chance for reflection, for looking through what's inside all of us, and as to what makes us all vulnerable despite the array of differences that we all have.

I know it's hard, trust me, I've been dealing about these days hardly especially with my anxiety. But yes, I do believe that this will all end. It is a time written for us to reconnect, rebuild, repaint, and repent. Nobody knows when or how this pandemic and all its devastating effects would be put a stop to, but the Lord does. Turing into Him and giving Him all your worries about what is happening and what's still to happen is the most simplest yet most powerful thing you can do for yourself.

Also, Please Stay Indoors. It will help you, your family, and humanity in battling this microscopic dementors.

Skywatch Friday: Open Canal

A Sunny sky at the Open Canal Road greets us all a warm Good Morning!

The Open Canal road stretches from Pasong Camachile in General Trias, passing through Imus and ends in Molino in Bacoor. Since this road was opened to vehicles, it has been a big cut to the travel time for Cavitenos in the Heart of the Province, going to the Dasmariñas City Area, Imus, Bacoor and Muntinlupa City in Manila.

In times of Long Heated summers, the Canal at the left part of the Photo is dry and grasses grow in it. But in rainy days, the Canals fill up and a slow current brings the Water to the Agricultural Areas of Cavite such as Imus, General Trias and Tanza.

Gray Skies and Green Fields

It was a rainy afternoon when I shot this photo and luckily I have my Camera with me on my way home from school. This Photo of a blissful pasture reminds me of Southern New Zealand as I see it on photos and TV Shows. The sad and quiet gray skies and the vibrant greens of the grasses gives a cozy feeling to anyone that passes by them.

Through a closer look at the middle-right part, you can see a Carabao bathing along the Mud and a beautiful drifted tree at the center gives a dramatic feeling to it. As I went home I decided to take a bath in the rain which I haven't done since childhood and it was a great experience for me! When it rains in your place, Why don't you try it?

Here in our country, just like the skies you see, it is a sad fact that It never seems to have Seasons anymore. We only get Weather reports that are good just for another day because sometimes it gets too hot when it's in the months of cool weather and suddely it rains so hard in the middle of summer. I just hope and pray there's still a chance for the Environment to cope up with all these damage.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY

My Skywatch Comeback

Shot a few days ago at Sunset.

After my 7-month absence, this is my first ever Skywatch Friday Participation. You can see in the photo is my road home from the university. I shot this using my friend's camera, (THANKS KATHLEEN) while we are on the jeepney. The Burst of the Philippine Sunset just awes me even I see it almost every often when the sky is clear!

Though the country hasn't coped up yet with Typhoon Ondoy(Kestana), a Category 5 Storm named Pepeng is about to enter Philippine Land this evening. I know it sounds very alarming that is why I posted this earlier. I am asking for all your prayers because we will really be needing them. With the gustiness of over 240kph, It sure is the strongest in Centuries! Strong than Milenyo. Please pray for the Philippines and most of all, the Filipinos!

Oh! Currently, the rain is starting! We may be alarmed but we are not afraid because God is with us and all our prayers!

Passing By

I have waited so long to post this photo. Many of my friends at school thinks that this one is a good shot. We were dining at Tagaytay City when an old man passed by as I pressed my shutter. This was of course an accidental shot and I find it nice too.

Hello, I'm sorry to those that I haven't replied to on my very last post last Skywatch Friday because even if it was the start of vacation, I never stayed at home everyday from that day on. I was so busy and I am really sorry I put this blog down but hey, I'm back!

We have been to Enchanted Kingdom with my College friends earlier and it was a blast. After that, we check some of our grades at school for this past semester and I was so delighted. I can't even believe on what I got on Physics as I was emphasizing how hard the course was. But I did get a high grade! A lot higher than expected so thank you all so much for your prayers and wishes, it did a lot to me! Congratulations to the students who passed their subjects especially to those who got high grades!

Skywatch

I know it's a bit blurry but I really hope you find it nice. This one is shot in Tagaytay last Sunday. Tagaytay City is located on the southern edge of Cavite approximately 2,100 ft above sea level. that explains it's cold, temperate weather all year round.
