I took this photo at my terrace garden and sadly, the Cattleya blooms I have been waiting for has been affected. two of the buds were destroyed by the wind even before my Dad rescued it from it's hanging place. It's now on my room with what's left of the flowers and I am sad.
Typhoon "Ambo" started this year's list of Typhoon (typhoon names are alphabetical every year) and it's very weird because of two things. One, is this summer has nothing but unforgiving with temperatures from 42C-50C in the past three weeks and it's weird that the primer storm passes by during May. And more unusual to it is that it is not just a simple storm, it's a strong typhoon with gustiness of up to 255 km/h.
This is a very tough time, especially for those that have been affected by the Taal Volcano eruption last January 2020 who still have no homes and are in evacuation centers. They have no home, and then this COVID Pandemic came, and guess what, a strong typhoon! 2020 is just unbelievable if you ask me. May I ask you for your prayers because it has been destroying the central islands at the moment and it's on the way here to the Manila area.

I like this picture. I hope you'll be ok with the typhoons and storms to come. Nature can be hard sometimes
ReplyDeleteThank you very much my friend Kwarkito and you are right, this year has been natures backlash to all that has been happening. Stay Safe my friend!
DeleteOlá Stevenson!
ReplyDeleteMinha oração:
Anjo da guarda minha companhia.
Guardai as vossas almas de noite e de dia.
Um doce abraço recheado de esperança.
Megy Maia🌈
Megy I very much appreciate your prayer, thank you so much and the typhoon is still not yet here but they say its weakening so thanks be to God!
Delete...perhaps climate change is to blame. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteI very much agree to that Tom! Thank you so much and stay safe too my friend!
DeleteAs difficult as the COVID pandemic is, there are always others that have even more difficult challenges. I can't imagine dealing with a volcano eruption and a typhoon right now!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true my friend! Instead of having a couple of months to try and rebuild their homes, they were then lockdown because of this virus, and now, a typhoon. I'm so sorry for them. Stay safe there in the US my friend!
DeleteLove the geometric designs.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jim! My friends tease me before that it looks like a jail HAHA
DeleteI will remember you, your area in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThis is very nice of you Rose, I really appreciate that. I will also pray for you on my evening prayers. May God continue to bless and protect you and your family Rose, and all of us.
DeleteStevenson, that is crazy indeed.
ReplyDeleteStill 4C this morning, way too cold for May.
50C?! Well, I got used to 42+C in Australia, but 50?! Hope you have a breeze at least, and no, I mean breeze, not typhoon!
Awful. If you get to Darwin, Australia, you can hear cyclone Tracey in the museum. I did and freaked out.
Even worse... I learn about your situation only here, it´s not "even" in our news.
When people are allowed to get into the stadion for soccer, that´s on the news.
We live in a dangerous, crazy, sick world, that luckily has also friendly people, smiles and peace, and fun.
I hope you are well and don´t worry too much and your plant recovers.
I lost my avocado this February, so best wishes to yours, dear friend!
Hello dear Iris! you got that right, there is breeze but even the breeze is like coming from a hair dryer because everything here is paved wit concrete so no soil to cool the winds, ughhh Wow! Darwin! If I'm not mistaken the climate in Darwin is a bit the same as ours, Tropical. And yes, cyclones, hurricanes, and typhoons can really be devastatiing.
DeleteOh thank you so much, I am glad I got you updated about our side of the world. It's also the same here, the news is always just focused on the government and their political bickering, so I get my news on the internet and better yet, from my friends like you who have first-hand experiences in your own homes and cities.
Oh I'm sad for your Avocado :( Do you eat your Avocados with bread and salad just like in America? because here they think we eat it weirdly. We take Avocados as dessert. They think its weird but when the Americans try what we do, some of them like it. What we do is take the avocado out of the skin and seed, then chop it, then we add condensed milk and sugar then we mix it, put in the fridge. then eat! It's like ice cream. You must try it Iris!
Hello, I pray you and your family stay safe from the storms and the virus. So sorry about your plant, the wind does do a lot of damage. I like your hanging plants and garden. Take care and stay safe. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Eileen. The storm has passed and tomorrow I'll bring my two flowering orchids back to their homes outside :)
DeleteAll that makes me so sad to read. First about your plants, but of course they are small things in the big picture, but not to you of course. I would feel the same. And then to red about all the natural phenomena going on, that is both sad and scary. I just read your comment about avocado to Iris (as it is right above this), and it does sound wonderful. I make an avocado cake which is very good. But I also am a weird American who eats Avocado in salad and with Mexican food and also on toast or with eggs. I love learning (not about the people's loss) but about the not so big world we live in. It is a fascinating place for sure. happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh Erika I am so happy that you find the Avocado dessert recipe nice. Please try that when you have a chance, especially when hot summers start to greet you there. Oh Guacamole is something that I love too on the savory avocado side :)
DeleteThank you so much Erika, your words are so kind and thoughtful and you are right, blogging is a big way for me to get to know things about other places, especially through my blogging friends such as you :) Happy Weekend!
Gosh you really are having a fun of bad luck with the weather where you are SQ, I certainly do send you positive vibes that the typhoon doesn't cause too much damage, those winds speeds are terrifying 😱 When are you expecting Ambo to arrive? Will listen on the international news channel. I'm definitely going to try your avocado 'icecream'.. will let you know what I think 😉 Take care.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Grace! Oh thank you so much for those vibes, halfway through the storms trip, it gotten weaker and just before it was near our province, it changed its course more northern so now all we had was rain and cooler weather which is a big gratitude.
DeleteOh you make me so excited! I'll wait to hear from you, I hope you will like its sweet and creamy goodness!
That's really bad news Stevenson. After all that your islands have suffered this year. Your comment was the first I heard of the typhoon. I'm afraid that our media is completely full of coronavirus with little news of the outside world. Even then they are keen to tell us only what they think is suitable for our ears and not real unbiased news. I really hope this has avoided the Manila area and blown away over the ocean. Take care.
ReplyDeletePhil that is so nice of you, thank you so much my friend! And your hopes were heard it did sway its way to a north direction just before it was near our area. And you are right, I only get to hear about the news around the world from the internet news and from you my friends. Take care Phil and have a happy weekend!
DeleteOMG, what sad news !
ReplyDeleteStay Safe my friend!
Thank you so much my friend Karl! The storm has passed us and luckily did not take ground on our area. Happy Weekend Karl!
DeleteWhen you think you're going through tough times, they're are always people who have it tougher. I never have experienced a typhoon and hopefully never will. I've been in earthquakes and those were scary enough. I hope you plant will recover, I think it will but it will take time to have another flower. Have a wonderful weekend, Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteThat is very true Bill and what you said is something that I should always think off for inspiration. That whatever suffering or hardships we currently feel, there is always one or a hundred that is enduring something more unbearable. Thank you so much dear friend Bill, and may you have an amazing weekend coming as well :)
DeleteI am late in commenting so didn't know about the erratic weather ~ hope all is ok now and your photo is very creative and hope the plants are ok and rallying ~ Things need to get better ~ your area seems to be hit very hard by 'mother nature' ~ it is a crazy time we are living in ~

Crazy time it really is Carol, thank you so much! I hope the rest of the months of 2020 would be bearable at least than these past 5. Happy new Week!
DeleteIt seems like the whole world is angry -- typhoons, virus, hurricanes and storms... not to mention the angry people. I hope you will be safe with the typhoon and have a safe place to be. I'm so sorry about your beautiful blooms.
ReplyDeleteAngry is a good word to describe it Jeanie. Thank you so much and I hope that my other orchids will also bloom again :)
