Cattleya, General Trias
That day before the Typhoon came, I took this photo of the Cattleya plant that started blooming so that I can show it all to you who were with me in excitement when I post its buds on my May 9th post, Late Bloomer but I thought I'd share a photo of the Typhoon yesterday to make you guys aware of what's currently happening.
Thank you all so much for your hopes and well wishes, the typhoon has weakened just before it arrives near us and also, the wind pulled the storm towards the north just in time that it got really near Manila and Cavite area. With the storm passed, we are now expecting clearer skies this weekend and I can return my Cattleya plant back outside (sadly the last two buds at the center was destroyed, but the three were strong and intact).
Stay safe everybody and wishing you a Happy Weekend from Cavite, Philippines!
...the weather sure can change quickly at this time of years here! We had a thunderstorm come through this afternoon, it was nothing like your typhoon, stay safe.
ReplyDeleteVery much true Tom! It's like no rainy or sunny seasons here any more when it comes to having them fixed on months before. Stay Safe Tom!
DeleteWas just wondering about you a few minutes ago...glad that things are not as bad as they could have been.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much dear Rose. We were spared though we did receive a good amount of rain and winds, enough to cool the air.
DeleteThe colors of those flowers is gorgeous. I have never seen Cattleya plant but I can see why you were so sad to lose the other buds. Wow. What a fabulous bloom. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey are precious, you are right Erika :) And I forgot to write about how fragrant they are. If you smell it from a distance of about 4-6 inches from the blooms, it has a strong perfume scent! Happy Weekend Erika!
DeleteHi Stevenson, so nice to meet you. It's a good news that typhoon has weakened and you all are safe. I always enjoy the city based photo blogs like you have on Cavite. The pictures here can help you see the real Cavite, life and the culture of a place. I am happy that I came across your blog, Have a Nice and Safe Day. . . :)
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is mine Manav, welcome to Cavite Daily Photo! I am happy you like it here and I hope you can learn a few things about my side of the world through this blog. Have a great weekend my new friend Manav!
DeleteHave you survived a Typhoon? Wow!
ReplyDeleteIf there is a storm blowing here with gusts of 100 km per hour, I'm afraid! Fortunately, is over! Have a nice weekend!
We did Ella, thank you so much. It was bad for the other islands but we were spared and just received a good amount of rain and quite strong winds. Happy Weekend Ella!
DeleteOh, Stevenson, that´s a beautiful pic and once again I am glad I am weather-wise in safe Germany!!

Glad nothing bad happened to you, dear friend!!
We talked about hurricanes, cyclones and typhones at lunch time - the differeces are weird.
We´ll be off in cold, but more or less sunny weather for a walk in a minute.
Have a great weekend. What´ll you be up to?
Glad to hear you are in a good weather spot in Germany iris. Thank you so much! It was really scary because the first islands it passed by at, some houses are destroyed and roofs blown away. But we were spared, thanks to God.
DeleteOh to be honest I still don;t really know what the differences are aside from the fact that we call it typhoons here.
Happy Weekend dear Iris! Oh just at home and reading and watching about Bromeliads which I grow in my garden, I hope I can learn more on how it can be grown and cared properly

ReplyDeleteIt is my pleasure Bill and I am happy that you seen this one from my own garden, it means so much to me. Thanks my friend Bill! Happy Weekend!
DeleteWhat a lovely bloom SQ, you did well to think ahead and save it 🌼 what a relief it must have been to escape the worst of the typhoon, nature can sometimes, definitely not always, be a little kinder 😉
ReplyDeleteThank you so much dear Grace! You are very right on that one. Thanks to my dad who helped me take it down from the bar because it was knotted so tight. And yes, thanks that we did evade the worse storm.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to photograph this while it was still in beautiful bloom. Well done -- it's a stunning plant. I hope it will continue to grow forever!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Jeanie, Oh that is so kind of you! I really hope it will grow and bloom for a long long time too :)
DeleteGlad nothing major happened. Keep well Stevenson.
