Santa Maria de Chipre, General Trias
During the holy week, the cities and towns of Cavite and other provinces across the country hold their annual procession of saints in remembrance of the passion and sacrifices of Jesus Christ. For Catholics, this is an important event and families ad individuals line up with their candles to walks a specific route of road while praying and reflecting.
This year, with the Enhanced Community Quarantine being imposed in the whole of Luzon, these processions and other religious and community events are encouraged to be postponed by the government due to social and physical distancing that is being practiced in precaution to the COVID Pandemic.
For the longest time, the will be the first time that the Parish of Saint Francis of Assisi in General Trias will postpone this tradition since it started during the Spanish colonial era. I guess this will be for the betterment of everybody, besides, we can always pray and reflect on our respective homes. This will also be an assurance that most of us will still be here in the next processions in the coming years.
This image of "Santa Maria de Chipre" or Mary of Cyprus who was the mother of Saint Mark the Evangelist is under the care of Brother Ejay de Leon Tiglao of General Trias. This photo was taken by the author during the 2016 Good Friday procession.
A beautiful capture!

Beautiful composition SQ, such a shame the procession will have to be cancelled. It's the same here, for the first time ever the ANZAC Day dawn service honouring war veterans and all who have died in wars has been cancelled, quite shocking really! Take care ✨

Hello Stevenson,
ReplyDeleteNice picture!!
That must be a nice event. But it is very special that all these major events in the world are postponed. This is better in connection with the gathering of many people in times of the prevailing virus.
I wish you all the best and I hope you stay well.
Best regards,
Marco
Thank you very much Marco and I very much agree with what you said. The best thing to do nowadays is limit social gatherings and physical contact. We an always do these celebrations when this has been contained and vanquished.
DeletePlease be well too my friend and keep safe!
