The Sorrowful Mother or the Dolorosa is the depiction of the Virgin Mary after the death of Christ. She is always wearing Sad and Dark Colors usually Black or Dark Blue to show how sad she is with the death of her Son, Jesus Christ.
The Sorrowful Mother is always on the Last part of the Procession where devotees sing the Stabat Mater Dolorosa. The song as it goes in Latin:
Stabat Mater Dolorosa
iuxta crucem lacrimosa
dum pendebat filius.
Cuius animam gementem
contristatam et dolentem
pertransivit gladius.
At the end of the Procession, all the Saints would line up the Plaza in front of the Church all facing the image of the Santo Enchero or the Dead Christ. Then the Sorrowful Mother would face the Image of the Dead Christ and a Little Boy would start reciting the Prayer of Goodbye then another Statbat Mater Dolorosa will be sang. The image of the Sorrowful Mother is owned by Josefina Pasqual of General Trias, Cavite.
