Thanks to our Vendors and Farmers

Meat Section, General Trias Public Market

Though not everything is free, especially in times like these, still we fail to appreciate the fact that our money still has the power to buy food especially meat and fresh produce. Without the help of our farmers and their continuous efforts to continue and supply us food and resources despite the lockdown, we will all be doomer than doomed. Aside from the people behind our supply, we should also be grateful for our Market vendors, especially those here in the Philippines who wake up as early as 3 in the morning just to prepare and fix their shops in time for the public to buy for their families.

In our prayer and thoughts, let us offer our thanksgiving to our backliner - the farmers and the animal growers, and our market frontliners - the vendors and the market administration. Without them, imagine how hard it would be not just for a selected few but for all of us.

    1. Right Michelle? It would be so hard for a lot of people especially those who can;t sustain their food and essentials on their own.

  3. Hi Stevenon. You are correct to remind us of these unsung heroes. Although we do not have a market here, we do have small local shops like a butcher, baker, veg shop and fishmonger. Only now have some people discovered them when it is not so easy to get to town and the big supermarkets. I hope these new shoppers remember who their real friends at all times now. |Have a good weekend. Stay cool.

    1. Oh Phil! I saw those individual shops on movies and those look super cute! I really like supporting those small business instead of those giant supermarkets but of course I still get stuff from those if I'm already in the Mall :)

I really like what you said about remembering their real friends, that is very true and we should help each other grow, especially budding and old-time shops. Happy Weekend my friend Phil!

  5. You are so right...we take them all for granted. And they face the danger of catching this virus every single day they are at work.

    1. Every single day! But still they fight for it not just for themselves or the small income they can get but for the city that depend on them. Thank you so much Rose!

  6. You are so right. A big chunk of our food supply is being threatened by breakouts of the virus in meat packing plants. It is deeply concerning. I am so grateful to those who work hard to help us be able to have what we need on our tables. And terribly sad and worried for those who do not have enough food because they aren't working. I hope that will change soon.

    1. Amen to that Jeanie. What I love is that no matter how careful these vendors are in handling the food the best that they can, they still verbally encourage shoppers to properly clean the produce. I hope it will as well Jeanie, thank you so much!

  8. Your review is very true. We need to thank the traders in the market who are still loyal to trade to meet the daily needs of many people. If not .. I don't know what conditions will happen.

  9. It is nice that you are thanking these people - so often those who work away in the background are simply ignored, yet without them life would not be as good as it is. Keep smiling :) xx

    1. I love the way you said it Margaret. It's very much true that these heroes are often unsung especially without reminders from people who do recognize them. Happy ANZAC Day Margaret!

  11. You are so right Stevenson. We did see a few banners thanking truck drivers ... in addition to all those you mention, at least here in this country there would be very little in the stores without them.

    1. You got that right Sallie, Drivers have been tirelessly sending out deliveries here and there in our city as well and from my heart I thank them so much. I once ordered food and I really thanked him so much and from a country where tipping is not very much accustomed, I tell mys tudents and friends to kindly give tips to the drivers especially now in this situation.
