Over The River

Bridge over Santa Rosa, Noveleta

As this river divides two barangays (town/city sub-division smaller than the city) in the A bridge above it connects the two. Without this bridge, people from the right side have to travel more than 5 kilometers at the town proper just to go to the other side. At the same time, people going to Manila from the upland towns cut a big portion of their travel time because of this link. Aren't bridges wonderful?

  5. Bridges make it easier for people. You get used to it and when it closes for repair, you get aggravated and have to go way out of your way to get to your destination. Shops that rely on people stopping in their business realy can be afected by a bridge closed for repairs for a long time. I read a story of a town in the US that people couldn't get access to because they had to build a new bridge and the town suffered. Good post, most people probably don't think of this issue until it happens. Have a great day, my friend.

    1. Oh my friend Bill! You said it absolutely perfectly! Since people get used to using and crossing bridges, they think that it's normal and they don;t notice its importance only until repairs have to be done to it that instead of thanking the bridge they even get mad at it like it's unbreakable hahaha Very much true! Thank you so much my friend and have an awesome Wednesday!

  6. Dear Stevenson, as long as we haven´t invented beaming for real yet, bridges are a great alternative, right?
I want beaming, though. Just imagine. Step outside, make your wish and... tadaaa...

  9. I think bridges are wonderful, but sometimes I wonder who had the courage to build the first one over some of the big rivers...such as across the Mississippi river.

    1. And now you made me wonder too dear Rose! Who ever did, they started a good amount of courage to many more, especially those that build tunnels and bridges across seas just like the links between France and UK, and Sweden and Denmark :)

  12. Bridges are so essential - I guess they started with logs over streams and become ever longer and larger...
