Luzon Lockdown: Day 1

Sunrise over Bacao, General Trias

I never thought that my first ever post after many years to revive Cavite Daily Photo will be on a day of fear and danger. The world right now is currently on a battle with the COVID-19 Pandemic and just a week ago, the cases started bubbling up for the Philippines with the death toll now at 12 people.

Last night, March 16th, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared the whole island of Luzon under a lockdown or formally, in an "enhanced community quarantine". This takes effect to over 57 million people on eight regions across the nation's largest island which includes the capital region of Metro Manila and the whole Province of Cavite.

Under this lockdown, mobility between people will be highly limited and every person is encouraged to stay at home. School and work are being shutdown except for medical professionals, banking, groceries, and BPO workers. People are only allowed to let one person per household at a time to buy groceries and other essentials such as medicine and water. All of these and other international and domestic travel restrictions will run for a month until April 14th.

With prayers and high hopes, Cavite Daily Photo is one with the Caviteños, the Filipinos, and every citizen of the world in this fight with the COVID-19 Pandemic. We will make it through.

  2. Thank you for this photo and your post on this very difficult situation you are in. I hope you stay safe and well. We have not got such strict quarantine here yet, but I think it will happen and hopefully sooner rather than later as I think it is the only way this pandemic can be controlled. We are fortunate that we can still blog without any fear. Take care.

    1. You are absolutely right Rosie. People here are half and half wen it comes to the quarantine but I totally agree with you that it should happen as soon as possible and with strict compliance with everyone because I believe it's the only way to combat this pandemic. Wish you a great week ahead and keep safe!
