Peter and His Doubts

San Pedro Apostol, General Trias

“Peter said to him in reply, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ He said, ‘Come.’ Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’” (Matthew 14:27-31).

Just like Peter, no matter how strong our Faith is, we still are very prone to worry and fear in hard times like these. The coronavirus is something that does not discriminate and everybody is never immune to its infection. But as long as we do our part in mitigation such as keeping ourselves clean and observing distance, with a strong Faith and a heart full of prayer, we can all be saved. Just as Jesus stretched His hand to save Peter from drowning, so as His mercy towards our calls and prayers in these times.

Let us all be grateful for being alive and healthy. The Lord wants us well, and so do we. Praying for all of your best health and comfort this Maundy Thursday. Photo above features San Pedro Apostol of Erson Que from General Trias's Good Friday Celebration last 2018.

  7. These are very wise words. Our greatest gift from God (or at least one of them) is a brain that hopefully allows us to make reasoned, careful decisions and in this case, decisions that will protect us. Just as he gives great intelligence and skill to scientists to help find vaccines and effective medicines. We must have faith that things will ease up in time. We must. A Happy Easter weekend, Stevenson.

    1. Beautiful words Jeanie, I am very delighted and moved while reading your comment. Reasoning really sets us apart from all His beautiful creations and as you said, it's there to give us sound decisions and protect us. Faith is one thing that is free and accessible no matter where we are yet it's the strongest weapon to whatever we all are in. Thank you so much Jeanie and it's always a delight seeing you here on my blog :) Happy Easter Weekend Jeanie!
