The Adonidia merrillii or commonly called the Manila Palm is a kind of palm tree that is native to our islands and our neighboring Malaysia (Sabah). It is also called Christmas palm because is bears fruits which are of bright red in color. Here in Cavite, the Manila palm is a usual addition to any home garden landscape which have a bigger area because they do grow up to 25 feet high.
This lockdown has enabled me to learn more about things that we don't usually have time for and one of which, and I am sure you know much if you are a frequent on my blogs, is about plants and gardening. This time did not just taught me about names and species but especially the healing properties of being close to plants.
What things have you learned or hobbies you uncovered in these times of the pandemic?
The blockade has allowed many of us to discover or rediscover the things that had been unnoticed by our everyday friend Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteHappy week.
Cheers
That is absolutely true my friend José Antonio! And one big thing I rediscovered is my love for blogging which then led me to great new friends just like you :)
DeleteHello Stevenson,
ReplyDeleteVery special to see this Manila Palm. Very interesting to read about.
Greetings, Marco

Thank you very much Eileen and thank you also for sharing your nature to us on the other side of the globe :)
DeleteThat's great. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Regine :)
Delete...I have seen and enjoyed many Manila Palms in Maui. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteWow! That makes me happy Tom :) I feel closer to my friend even you are in NY! Keep Safe Tom!
DeleteWhat I envy you! You have palm trees there, the weather is most beautiful and sunny ... but you have no tulips and no windmills!
ReplyDeleteNa, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na!!!! 😅😅😅😅
Hahaha Ella!!! You make me laugh and I thank you so so much because I have been feeling so down today! Oh honestly I would trade our excruciatingly hot summer days to tulips and windmills anytime of the year! HAHAHA I WISH I AM BACK TO THE NETHERLANDS NOWWWW huhuhu Happy New week my dear friend Ella!!!
DeletePalm trees in the home garden! Wow! We are starved for space in Mumbai :)
ReplyDeleteThat is true my friend. Someday when I get to have my own house, I would love to have just a humble house building but would love to have a big garden :)
DeleteI would love to see those red fruits. I would have to travel almost to Florida to see palm trees, so I will enjoy your photo. Ah tropical breezes. It may be a little too hot for my taste, but there are way more plants to learn about in the warmer places of the world. I bought a new plant for my garden the other day-corkscrew grass. I will have to put a photo up on my blog. I don't know anything about it but it was so fun to find at the garden center I bought 2. Happy new week.
ReplyDeleteI understand about the heat dear Erika, I have lived all my life in the tropics but I'll never get used to such humid and 40-50C summers! I tried to look for corkscrew grass on google and it looks very amazing! I will look forward to it when you post it on your blog, that is a very good find! Have a great new week ahead Erika!
DeleteGorgeous photo of the Christmas Palm ~ we used to have the Palm for a Xmas tree ~
ReplyDeleteWhat have a learned from the lockdown ~ that I need to be among friends, family and other people on a regular basis ~ I enjoy my solitude but like anything 'too much' is not good ~

Carol we are so much the same! I very much enjoy and appreciate my solitude too but at times I don;t get to realize that I need people to talk to only when my depression feelings take its toll physically. Stay safe dear Carol!
DeleteThe Manila Palm is absolutely beautiful. Have a wonderful day, Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much brother Bil!
DeleteI haven't really spent time on learning a lot of new things but spending time doing things I loved but didn't seem to be doing that much of before. And that's been fun!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a way better way of spending these quarantine times :) Especially if you already know the things you'll be happy doing :)
