Mimi Says Hi!

Mimi the Japanese Spitz, Cavite City

This cute dog is Mimi, a Japanese Spitz family member of my best friend from college Ralph (See his post on this blog's Guest Post Sunday). Mimi is a cheeky and noisy (just like most Japanese Spitz's) but very lovable dog.

When Ralph moved to Ontario, Canada last year, it was hard for him to leave Mimi but he knows that his family will take good care of her. But sad news that was heartbreaking even for me was when I heard that Mimi passed away. It was very sad because we also had a Japanese Spitz for 12 years names Sally which has been with me in almost all my school years. Months ago while catching up with Ralph, he did inform me that his family got a new dog and also a Japanese spitz and they called it Mimi as well.

This post is my first entry to Saturday Critters. If you wish to see all other cute critters from different places on our globe, visit Eileen's Viewing Nature with Eileen.

  1. What a gorgeous looking dog. I love dogs and still miss the ones we had but I have photos and memories of my 4-legged friends. They are nice to be around, sometimes even better than people. :)
The bell I posted does ring at noon and six.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

    1. We are the same Bill! I also have photos of my dogs who passed away so everytime I see their photos, I feel emotional and happy at the same time like they are visiting me again.
Oh I love that bell and hope we have something like that. We do have bells at church but they are not the loud anymore like before that it reaches us when it rings.
      Happy Weekend my friend Bill!

  4. She was the cutest pup. And so sad she passed but it sounds like she hd a long happy life. When I visited Japan 2 years ago we were eating breakfast and a man walked by with his spitz. He could tell we were all swooning over his dog, so he stopped, picked up his dog and put him in the window for us. It was a wonderful moment and a big memory from our trip. Happy weekend. 1. Oh Erika that is such a sweet story and experience you shared! I also made me remember my visit to Japan when a Japanese guy saw how I reacted to see his Dog while I was walking and he went to me with his cute dog and I petted his dog and I even had a photo with him. Super cute! Glad we have such amazing memories with cute dogs from Japan! Hugs to you dear Erika!

  5. Kinda... weird to name the new dog the same. It´s a new being, a new personality!
But, well, Hubby´s parents named their first boxer after the Mum and now, after she´d passed away after my Grandma! Who raised me. Can you imagine me telling her off?!!! LOL. "Frida, NO!!!" always feels a tad... well... disrespectful.

We had a German Shepherd and she sadly passed painfully away from darn cancer, but I had a gerbil who became an old Granma. She made all her way up to my shoulder, stood and told me stories in my ear.
She knew what my ear was!
I was so sad when she passed away and was mad when I found out she should´ve had rather another gerbil than a human, but I was too young to know.
But, Stevenson, isn´t it great we can bond to other species like that?
I just read a book on that topic I´ll share soon...

    1. Oh i do understand what you mean Iris. And usually in our family, we name our dogs with TV Characters that we see when they were given to us or born from their mommy dogs :)

I am so sorry to hear about your old friends and it is very hard to lose them especially that they really are part of our families and it will be eternal sadness too especially if we grew close to them very day.

Oh I would love to read about that sooon dear Iris, I;ll look forward to that!

  12. Mimi was so very beautiful. She looks like a wonderful dog with so much personality and I know she brought a lot of joy during her life. But it's so hard to say goodbye to yet another loss during this time when there are so many.
