Pitimini Flowers, General Trias
These roses have tiny versions of the usual ones. But I must tell you the scent of it is the same exact fragrant ones. My grandmother call these types the 'pitimini' but looking through google, they are called straightforwardly Miniature Roses.
This one is a surprise gift from my Aunt. I was sitting at our store front when a car passed by and somebody on a mask was shouting at me. When I saw it was my Aunt I rushed to her and my cousin handed me a big pot with this beautiful pink blooms! I was not very successful with growing roses before but now that I am serious about my garden, can you my dear friends give me some tips on how to take good care of roses? What are good practices to prevent white things and bugs and encourage them to bloom?
...roses are indeed beautiful and fragrant, but they can be difficult to care for.
ReplyDeleteThey really are Tom. I have failed a lot of times in growing them especially them getting bugs and stuff but I hope I'll do well this time :)
DeleteI have a miniature rose. I just LOVE roses. Mine is in a pot and I do have to spray them with bug spray or wash them down with soapy water occasionally as they do get bugs. Mine lose their leaves a couple of times a year, but then they grow back, but maybe yours living in a warm place won't have that problem. But having a nice rose bush inside with blooms makes the care all worth it.That's a great gift so enjoy! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteErika! I am so grateful for your tips! Now that I am still not allowed to go outside and besides it's still not safe and I can't visit a hardware shop for sprays, I'll just follow your advise of soapy water. I'll also take note of the leaves. I am very excited and they do seem a bit droppy now after I placed them on the pot with added soil but I hope they recover on their new home :)
DeleteRoses love banana skins and onion skins for fertilizer. I chop up the skins and give them about one a month. To avoid bugs, boil up some onions and pour the onion water around the roots, and I have no doubt it would be ok to spray the bugs with!
ReplyDeleteBeing in a humid country, watch out for black spot and other fungii... and don't let it get too wet. I have never found roses difficult to grow.
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Maxine! These are very helpful tips! Thank you very much and I will very much follow this, especially that banana and onions are common here in our country, it would be easy for me to follow these. I will definitely do the banana skins later this afternoon and add them to the soil as fertilizer. I'll watch out for those black spots and white things that were culprits on my older roses when I was younger.
DeleteThank you very much Maxine and also welcome to Cavite Daily Photo :)
Oh, dear Stevenson, that must´ve been some scene!
ReplyDeleteSooo beautiful! I had to laugh! :-)
I´m also but an Aunt(ie), but my neighbours have pretty roses looking up nearly to our balcony.
They water them, eventually, but I reckon these roses are "old", they know how to live.
But I see you got helpful tips through other bloggy-friends, so: Yay for your roses, bet they will thrive!
You Bet Iris! You sure would laugh at me because I was so shocked and my Aunt doesn't care AT ALL even if the cars at the back were honking, she need to give the rose to me HAHA it was a SCENE! Hahaha Thank you so so much dear Iris!
DeleteBelas rosas apesar de já estarem em fim de vida.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e tenha um bom fim-de-semana.

Oh thank you so much Dear Carol! We are the same, as of now, all I do is love and talk to them and water them :) Thanks to the advises I get to learn more :)
DeleteI'm a bad person to ask about gardens but I know you will (and have) received some wonderful hints. How kind of your aunt -- that is really so very thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteIt really was dear Jeanie! I was super shocked and very much touched! She's my favorite Aunt on my father's Side :)
DeleteThe miniature roses are beautiful SQ, I have several . They should grow really well in your climate, they love the heat as long as you don't let them dry out. Really they are so easy, the best thing is not to fuss over them too much, feed them a rose fertilizer a couple of times a year, prune them right back in winter, I'm just about to prune mine, and they come back better than ever. There are bug sprays you can get to kill the aphids but I usually just wash the off with a water spray.. good luck with your new rose 🌹
ReplyDeleteOh dear Grace thank you so much for those great advice and encouragements! I am so excited for the roses :) Those the flowers are now drying out, maybe it is its way of adapting to the new home it's in :)
DeleteThey are so beautiful! I always clip off the dead blooms and that seems to encourage them to bud out more. But roses are pretty hardy! I hope yours does well. How sweet of your Aunt! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOh Thank you so much Lavender! They are starting to die out, the blooms, when I visited them this afternoon. I'll take note of the cutting once they are dead :)
DeleteI have no idea! My grandmother used to have a few rose bushes in her garden but I really cannot remember how she looked after them! Hopefully you can save it :-D
