Colorful Lunches

One thing I miss about working at the office are the colorful lunches I prepare for myself. Aside from different food items, I also use different bento boxes (lunch box in Japanese) that comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. I have some boxes from my brother in the US, some old Tupperware from my Mom, and even a cute cartoon character one which is a gift from my friend who visited Japan.

On this bento, I had steamed rice, corned tuna, and scrambled eggs. I also have lettuce and cheese slices and this cute little jar of mayonnaise. I think this is a balanced diet of a meal, plus I love the variety and color so I was so excited for lunch time at work!

How were your lunches when you went to work during the old normal times?

  1. Wow, this enticing side dish color is indeed able to increase appetite. My eating experience at work always buys at a simple restaurant and I consume vegetables more often.

    1. That is very good Himawan to consume mostly vegetables! I am a very big meat eater and because of that I developed hypertension. I really have to eat more veggies and fruits for my body.

  2. I used to have carrot salad with oil, Chicory with tuna, eggs (boiled), tomatoes...

For Ingo I make two slices of bread, tomatoes, radish, boiled egg, sometimes a little sausage. Nuts and... some sweets. And a banana. Well, he´s taller than me, right ;-)
Yours looks very yummy, too, Steve!

    1. Love eggs!!! I feel meals are less special without any egg in any form of it. Ingo's Lunch sounds something I would also pack but with less veggies (Bad me) plus add some rice to it (and more sausage HAHA)

Thank you so much dear Iris!

    1. Oh Bill I so love Grilled Cheese, especially the ones that my brother in the states does. He used three types of cheese and smothers the bread with a lot of butter! Now you made me hungry, and great that you had an apple to balance the meal :)

    1. Thank you so much Michelle :) I am happy that I'm not alone in packing lunches and its great that you focus on protein rather than carbs (which I do and I should change).

  6. Great foodie shot ~ but what is corned tuna? ~ Looks like a very healthy lunch ~ and containers you used sound fun ~ I am a person who 'eats to live' and not 'lives to eat' so food is of no great interest ~ sorry ~

    1. Hello dear Carol! Oh Corned Tuna is canned tuna that is flaked into small flakes but it's flavored in a sense that it's like corned beef :)

  8. That's a very good looking lunch. I haven't worked in almost eight years but often it was yogurt or I might run out for something. It certainly never looked that good!

  9. I have not taken a lunch to work for years (shows my age), but I often have a vegetable soup with toast and cheese and fruit - at least currently in the cooler weather!

    1. Oh vegetable soup sounds amazing Maxine! I've always wanted to bring soup to work as well but the commute to work requires me to ride at the back of the tricycle (you can google Philippine Tricycle) which makes it hard for me to reach the office without the contents spilling HAHAHA

  11. Your Bento box lunch looks very pretty and neat. I love eggs and eat them daily. Because I only work half day, I get home around 1,30 to 2pm and have lunch then, which usually is leftovers from dinner, or otherwise I will make scrambled eggs with ham or cheese.

    1. Scrambled eggs with ham or cheese, Sami, that is something I can eat everyday in my life! It's very nice that you get home for lunch because you can have a better meal than taking stuff to work or buying things at the canteen :)

  13. That lunch looks yummy but also beautiful. When I visited Japan we had some Bento box lunches and they were truly amazing. My lunch here is not much exciting and yours look so much better. But today I have the fixings for a fruit salad which should be yummy.

    1. Japan truly is the best in all aspects, especially on their food! They present it so beautiful and artfully even the bentos found on 7-11!

Oh I would love some fruit salad Erika!

    1. Oh Ananka, How I wish I can also learn how to not eat meat and fish but it's very hard for me although I know it is doable for me if I really push for it! Salads are so much love! I love playing with different dressings to my usual lettuce and cheese :)
